The Sleepwell research program was established to improve methods to measure sleep and develop precision therapeutics that are user-friendly, cost-effective and reliable.
Sleep disruptions are a hallmark and consequence of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and a risk factor for suicide.
Our goal is to develop a personalized sleep program that is precise and adaptive.
Objective assessments of the brain, such as advanced neuroimaging approaches, have the power to detect microscopic changes in brain structure caused by trauma or disease, changes in circuitry and neurodegeneration.
Our goal is to advance the application of neuroimaging as a tool for diagnosis of brain diseases such as TBI, AD, and other brain disorders allowing physicians to accurately and efficiently diagnose conditions where subtle and early changes in brain structure can only be detected via advanced MRI imaging techniques.
With 20 Veterans committing suicide every day and no new FDA-approved therapeutics for PTSD in the past 17 years, the need for new solutions is urgent.
To address this urgent need, we are spearheading the design and application of Adaptive Platform Trials to test the efficacy and safety of pharmaco-therapeutics for PTSD.
